Frequently Asked QuestionsWhat does the weekly schedule look like for the Nitro Internship? Nitro Internship participants will be actively involved at the IHOP Atlanta Missions Base for 45+ hours per week. 30+ hours each week will be spent in the prayer room in times of corporate intercession, personal study, and devotional worship. 5 hours will be spent serving in various departments across the missions base, including administration, children's ministry, housekeeping, etc. The remaining hours will be used for teaching, training, and community building. Nitro interns will be in the prayer room from midnight until 6 a.m., five nights a week. They will be required to shift their body clock to a night shift schedule during the three months. Nitro interns will also participate in activities during the evening several days a week. What is the housing situation for Nitro Internship participants? Married couples and families are responsible for finding their own housing arrangements. Singles may apply for accommodations in IHOP Atlanta's intern housing condominiums. Housing for single Nitro Internship participants is only offered if there is space available and is on a first-come, first-served basis. IHOP Atlanta housing residents are grouped by gender in a dormitory style setting. Each condominium is fully furnished and will accommodate between 6 to 8 individuals. Residents who are participating in other IHOP Atlanta internships will be under the supervision of Resident Assistants, but RA's will not be provided for Nitro participants. All those in IHOP Atlanta housing will be expected to abide by the rules and regulations of the Housing Department, which will include regular inspections of each residence. Alcohol and tobacco products are not permitted. How do I apply for IHOP Atlanta housing? If you are single, you may fill out the Housing Application and send it in the same envelope as your Nitro Internship Application. Do I need a car? All Nitro Internship participants must provide their own reliable transportation. Exceptions are possible with prior approval. All personal vehicles must have valid insurance coverage. Do I need a laptop computer? Much of the day-to-day communication in the IHOP Atlanta community takes place over the Internet through e-mail. However, it is not necessary for interns to have a laptop. It is recommended that Nitro participants have at least one laptop computer per family in order to journal, study, and communicate. We have found that a laptop is very useful in the ongoing study of the Scriptures. Laptops should be equipped with a wireless network card and a Bible study program. What personal expenses should I expect? You are responsible for providing the necessary personal finances to cover your food, housing, social activities, and any other personal expenditures during the program. Are there Any other rules for Nitro Internship participants? You are expected to be free of any personal addictions (to alcohol, drugs, tobacco, pornography, etc.) before applying for the Nitro Internship. Due to the intensity of this program, it is recommended that you be free from any such addictions for at least six months prior to your arrival. Our desire is for Nitro Internship participants to be able to focus their undivided attention upon the Lord, rather than struggling with frequent temptations in the area of recently overcome addictions. Attendance during all scheduled Nitro Internship hours is required in order to remain in the program. Exceptions will be made for illnesses and family emergencies. Will I be able to have a part-time job during the Nitro Internship? Because your time will be scheduled for at least 45 hours per week, holding down a part-time job during the Nitro internship would be very difficult. It is recommended that you have enough finances to cover all of you expenses for the three month duration of the Nitro internship before starting the program. If you decide to attempt a part-time job during the Nitro internship, your work must be planned so as not to conflict with the Nitro program schedule. Are children allowed to participate in Nitro? Teenagers may be enrolled in Nitro if at least one of their parents is enrolled, though parents should consider whether or not the teenage child is mature enough to handle an intense, 45-hour-per-week schedule. While on the IHOP Atlanta Missions Base, or during any scheduled Nitro events, teenagers, under the age of eighteen, must be accompanied by a parent at all times. Children, under the age of thirteen, may not be enrolled in Nitro. At this time, we are unable to offer childcare for Nitro interns. If you desire to do an internship with childcare, the INTRO internship can provide for this need. Are meals provided in the cost of the program? No, all Nitro participants will be responsible for buying and preparing their own meals. How much does the Nitro Internship cost? For more information, please visit the program costs page. |
