He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty (Psa 91:1).

Would you like a place of permanent safety and security? Would you like a place of permanent and consistent provision, forgiveness, protection and deliverance? This is available to you in the Most High, in the Almighty. No person can offer this and follow through. Your Maker offers and follows through as you receive His invitation to dwell and abide.

What is the “secret place?” Looking at other Psalms, written mostly by David, we discover the secret place is a hiding place and is connected to Tabernacle where God dwelt in the Holy of Holies between the cherubim above the Ark of the Covenant. Only the High Priest could enter and stand before the Ark of the Covenant once a year. David brought the Ark of the Covenant into Jerusalem. He set a tent over it where it was openly seen and where he established worship day and night.

The secret place is a reference to God’s presence.

You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence From the plots of man; You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion From the strife of tongues (Psa 31:20).

In God’s presence is His goodness (Exo 34:6-7). Dwelling in God’s great goodness we experience His provision, forgiveness, protection and deliverance (Psa 31:19; 23:5-6; 27:5; 32:7).

David became confident that He would dwell in God’s presence forever.

I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings. Selah (Psa 61:4).

As new creations in Christ Jesus, we are hidden with Christ in God (Col 3:3). We can permanently dwell in the love of Christ. He is our secret place, the One who made a way for us to dwell with God forever.

Jesus desires that we dwell in His great goodness. He desires us to dwell in His righteousness, holiness and redemption. Beloved of God, make every effort to enter that place of continual dwelling in the goodness of God in Christ Jesus. Continually turn inwardly to the secret place of Christ in you. There and only there is lasting contentment and satisfaction. There and only there is lasting freedom from self-sufficiency, need for approval, anxiety, pride and all other things opposed to God’s abundant goodness.

You might ask, “How do I enter into this?” You will begin to dwell as you come into agreement with God’s desire for you to dwell in His goodness, in the depths of His shadow. Open your heart and receive. As a child, beyond the intellect, open and receive by faith. You will be conformed to His likeness as you allow Him to simply be Himself toward you. Enjoy His great delight for you.
